WE CANNOT RELAX WE MUST PUSH HARDER TO GET WHAT WE WANT
Went into my Liberal MPP MF Lalonde (Min of correctional services) meeting this morning at 8 am (who gets up this early?:) What was supposed to be a 1/2 hour meeting turned into a 1 1/2 hour one. She was listening a lot as I outlined the points from my submission to the hearing. I know my MPP ( a friend) very well and is sympathetic to vaping as she asked me to get her aide vaping who is now smoke/vaping free now. She understands our perspective. The Libs are pushing based on protecting youth/non smokers etc and did use the U Waterloo youth study which I explained why it was wrong and she agreed it was flawed. She agreed to most of my points and would take this to cabinet and Hoskins and Naqvi. She said that Industry (CVA) was in discussion with MOH about regulations which may be amended. The Bill will more than likely go through mid Dec but has to go through a clause by clause review before assent. The Libs may look to not proclaim schedule 3 (No assent) and review it in more detail (not sure this will happen). Safe to say I got to say a lot and she was in receive mode. The Liberals are back tracking at the moment due to pressure from vapers, industry etc. My sources tells me the government will save vape shops but the devil is in the details as to what else?. This is due to pressure from folks like us. They are not saying it publicly yet, and that is why there needs to be more pressure. so long as the Libs appear to want to be stupid on issues of alternatives to cigarettes, Vapers should be pointing out the stupidity, and they should know that votes are slipping away. The take away is to keep the pressure on and not let up and keep their feet to the fire. She will keep me updated as the process continues..
